
The Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) is located in the heart of Manchester city centre. With over 30,000 students it is the largest non-federal university in Great Britain with over 400 courses available to students. The Manchester Metropolitan University along with the Victoria University of Manchester, The Manchester Business School and UMIST - all situated within the Manchester Educational Campus - form one of the most extensive education centres in Europe.
The Manchester Institute for Popular Culture (MIPC)
MIPC is a research institute located within the Department of Sociology in the Faculty of Humanities, Law and Social Studies. Researchers at the Institute have been engaged in the study of urban cultures, urban regeneration, popular culture and the cultural industries for the past ten years. During that time a number of research projects have been undertaken with the co-operation of Manchester City Council, urban development agencies, arts organisations and businesses in the cultural industries economy.
